About Life is a funky coffee shop close to Shibuya station, probably the best coffee in that area. A simple menu the shop sells espresso, brews (hot and cold) and cold drip coffee. They have a small food menu and the space is ‘funky’ in that classic Tokyo way somewhere between design icon and hippy hip. Shiny green tiles dominate and wooden bench seating softens the harder edges, there are plants and hanging lights and it feels quite cozy.
The coffee is part of the Onibus chain of cafes and coffee roasters and you can even have beans shipped all over the world. In the afternoon the space is shared with Mikkella Bar (read our review here) which spends the morning hidden behind a venetian blind and rises open at midday. Mikella Bar which is famed for having twenty craft beers on tap takes over as the afternoon continues the venetian goes down and closes the cafe and the bar just keeps on going.
Coffee is excellent.
