If you are walking down Collins Street, Hobart you might easily miss Lucinda hidden away in a beautiful historic building but the signage is very subtle. Step inside and you will find a small room with a large central table and bench seats around the outside. They also have a larger room, off to the side that is not initially obvious but go through and you will find a different private space and cellar.
This is predominately a place to come and drink wine by the glass or share a bottle with friends but there is a lovely selection of food available too.
Behind Lucinda Wine Bar is the uber posh Dier Makr which you would immediately guess is the older sibling. In fact what may have started as something of an overflow bar to the degustation Dier Makr, is now a place you are very comfortable to drop in either for a glass, as snack or stay on for dinner.
The wines by the glass change daily and range more towards natural wines but plenty of wines with excellent pedigrees too. Chef and owner Kobi Ruzicka has built a fascinating cellar of wines that is sure to interest your tastebuds and the regularly changing food menu is just the right mix of food that elevates from snack to substantial as your hunger grows.
We really enjoyed the beef tartare with a very tasty bottle of Tasmanian Pinot Noir, I would have liked to try the terrine because the pictures look sensational. Next step Dier Makr!
