Beers and smoked meat are the perfect combination after a big day on the slopes, the Chop House delivers both.
Tucked away on Slalom Street at 1500 metres altitude, The Chop House welcomes slope-weary snow-goers with broad timber beams, glowing hearths, and an inviting buzz that’s both alpine and distinctly southern US. Step inside from the swirling snowscape and settle into a room thrumming with laughter, clinking glasses, and aromas of slow-cooked meats—the hallmark of Louisiana smokehouse dining.
AMBIANCE >
Expect classic ski resort conviviality: busy tables spill over with families, teenagers, and friends, each group clearly energized by a brisk day on the slopes. The setting mixes ski-lodge sturdiness with a dash of bluesy Americana—lumberjack shirts, exposed timber, and large windows framing snowy views. There’s a lively après-ski vibe, backed by house cocktails, local craft beers and regular DJs.
FOOD >
The menu leans confidently into smoked meats and southern staples: ribs (when not sold out!), pulled pork, brisket, buffalo wings, and house barbecue sauces lead a parade of comfort fare. Mushroom “wings” and vegan options are happily present for diverse diets. Many diners rave about the ribs and brisket (prime portions for hungry skiers), while sides such as pickles, coleslaw, sweet potato chips, and mash & gravy round things out. Not everything is perfect: at busier times, the kitchen can run out of headline dishes, and tough lamb shanks once disappointed a crowd. But for saucy, smoky meats and punchy sides, The Chop House hits the spot.

SERVICE >
Staff are energetic and welcoming, swift with drinks and knowledgeable about dietary needs—though moments of impatience have occasionally spoiled the mood for some (especially during peak crowds). Best to book early for ribs or pulled pork, as these regularly sell out before the night is through. Despite some service missteps, many families find the experience fun, fast, and memorable.
DRINKS >
After the food, linger over a selection of local wines, craft beers, and house cocktails—well suited for a fireside wind-down with friends old and new.
In winter or summer, The Chop House remains one of Falls Creek’s most spirited venues for hearty eats and après-ski pleasure, best appreciated with a group and a healthy appetite. Chop chop!
