The Jaguar E-Type is so very super stylish, so much so that Enzo Ferrari described it as “the most beautiful car in the world“. And now thanks to innovators like Electrogenic in the UK you can drive an electric conversion that transforms beauty into a future proof masterpiece.
The E-Type was originally introduced in 1961 and according to Jaguar it was capable of a top speed of 150mph and could get 0-60 in under 7 seconds, while not much by today’s Tesla standards it was immensely fast acceleration for the time.
The Electrogenic conversion saw a TorqX-310 electric motor bolted directly on to the original gear box, using a clutch and retaining all the gears with 62kWH battery which delivers about 200 miles of range. This was a custom build for the owner and they managed to keep all the dashboard looking authentic, though the dials and gauges have been repurposed to be useful to the driver.
The Electrogenic R-EV also features 6.6kW +CCS rapid charging, and can accelerate from 0-60 in 6 seconds. If you don’t want to keep driving it as a manual, the conversion can remove the gearbox and the EV conversion drives like an ultra smooth automatic.
This car is a definite contender for the most beautiful car in the world (again), and yes I really want one.
