STAY > MACQ01 Hotel, Hobart

If you are looking for the very best place to stay in Hobart then MACQ01 is probably it. Sure there are other choices available but here is why we are fairly convinced that MACQ01 is going straight to the top of your list.

There are two stand out reasons to recognise the hotel first are the rooms and second the location. MACQ01 is located right on the wharf looking across Sullivan’s Cove if you are visiting Hobart in Summer you will love the view of the boats the easy walk across to Salamanca Markets on a Saturday or to catch the Mona Roma ferry.

Rooms are huge, there is a lot of space and it starts with the king sized beds, walk in robe, enormous bathroom and it extends with a generous desk space and sitting lounge. Many rooms have balconies and if you are lucky your view will be across Sullivan’s Cove where you can watch the tugboats, fishing boats and Mona Roma ferries all going about their business.

EAT >

In recent years Hobart has become a major dining destination, visitors coming for Mona or Dark Mofo and looking for restaurants have been blown away by some of the incredible food options and the outstanding local ingredients. MACQ01 does have its own restaurant in the hotel but there are also another couple in the building as well as a couple more across the street in the Henry Lawson (perhaps the second best hotel in Hobart).

DRINK >

There is a bar area around a gas fire in reception that is well frequented as well as the Frogmore Creek (winery) bar and Evolve Spirit bar. You are spoiled for choice without needing to leave the building and if you do leave the building consider heading up the road to a wine bar like Lucinda!

WORK OUT>

MACQ01 has a good gym on the third floor if that is your thing and lets face it this is Hobart so you are going to be doing a lot of walking, especially if you follow our lead and walk up to North Hobart for lunch at the excellent Ogee Restaurant.
