The thing about Hotel No is that it is not really a hotel at all, rather it is truely unique glamping in the centre of the city. It starts with a secret ‘speak easy’ entrance which takes you to the rooftop and there you will find your shiny chrome Airstream.

I know you have always dreamed about having an Airstream, but you had nowhere to go, well why not go to Melbourne and stay in the very centre of the city, on a rooftop in your own Airstream. Sound good well that is the proposition for Hotel No.

Each Airstream comes with a comfy queen sized bed, they don’t do keys you have to download an application to your phone (and make sure the bluetooth is on). The Airstream room has a complimentary mini bar and there is a large open common area on the rooftop. Some even have hot tubs.

The Airstreams were all acquired in the USA and shipped to Australia where they were lifted up onto the roof of the carpark building on Flinders Lane using a 50 tonne crane.

Given you are on Flinders Lane you are right in the very centre of Melbourne’s fine dining district with way too many options to cover here. Chin Chin, Super Normal, Kisume, Coda, Lucy Liu, Movida, Tonka, Lee Ho Fook, Patstuso, Grill Americano, The 100, Hazel, Gimlet and many, many more are right on your doorstep.

But don’t forget to book, Melbourne restaurants are often booked out a fortnight in advance and super popular venues book more than a month out.

Lune Croissanterie has an outlet on Russell Street only a few steps away for those looking for a coffee and pastry fix but don’t be surprised to find very long queues if you arrive peak morning as this place has a huge reputation.

Brunetti Oro is a smart place for coffee a little further down on Flinders Lane and of course you have to wander down to Degraves Street which is full of venues always changing but every popular.

WORK OUT >

This is not going to be a workout zone but if you are keen, run the Tan (the loop around Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens which is only just across the river. Or find your way down to Melbourne City Baths on Swanston Street which first opened in 1860 and has the largest swimming pool in the CBD as well as a gym, squash courts and a fitness studio.
