We stumbled into Bar Morna after a long drive from the Dolomites back to Milan and a fairly long walk from the car hire return (at the Duomo) back towards our hotel Magna Pars in the vibrant Via Tortona area of Milan.
The hosts immediately welcomed us in encouraged us to partake in aperitivo hour and were genuinely so hospitable. Bar Morna is a charming spot that has an eclectic style and offers a blend of Italian cuisine, craft beers, plenty of spirits and cocktails, a few wines by the glass and above all a cozy atmosphere.
AMBIANCE >
The venue is set in what was formerly a bowls club and the greens are still there though seem to be being used more as garden seating space these days. In the warmer months the design takes advantage of opening out onto a quiet side street and the locals working in the fashion industry can pop in here for a regular session.
The front room has large long wooden bar with plenty of places to sit, there are also tables in the back room and in the warmer months you can stand outside where the owners have used parking bollards to provide drink trays.
EAT >
Open from breakfast to late at night you can start with coffee and pastries and continue on to more substantial offerings. Morna provides a fantastic aperitivo experience with a generous platter that can easily serve as a full meal. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about local flavours.
