Not far from the Meiji Jingue Temple in Yoyogi Park and sandwiched between the Shinjuku Goyen National Garden you will find the small suburban area of Kitasando (there is even a Kitasando station there on the Fukutoshin Line). In amongst the apartments and small shops you will find a coffee oasis Kitasando (it has been so successful that there are now a chain with the same name).
They make excellent espresso and pour over coffee, they have this amazing machine which pours the hot water over the brew in a slow circular motion (mesmerising). There are cakes and snacks but this is predominately a place to drink coffee. Seating is outside under a sail, not sure how it goes in wet weather.
The coffee is excellent hot or cold.
